Abby's Newborn Session Guide

Ahh! First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy!

I am so thrilled even to be considered to capture this truly magical time for you and your growing family.

Here is all the information you will need to have a calm and stress-free session with your newborn baby.

Letting Me Know Your Due Date

Filling out the contact information below is super important so I know not to schedule too much around your due date. Even if you have an induction date, they have a way of sometimes coming in style.

Newborn sessions need to be scheduled as soon as they have arrived. The optimal time to do the session is when your baby is 4-10 days old. That's the sweet spot before they are much more aware of their surroundings and fuss.

Preparation

Things to consider:

  • Where would you like to take family pictures?

  • Is that location well-lit? What time of the day is it the brightest?

  • Pick an outfit that is comfortable, makes you feel beautiful and confident, and is in a neutral color (cream, black, white, tan, or grey works best)

  • Figure out your outfit, then build the rest of the family around it.

  • I have wraps and bows to match everything, so you don't have to worry about styling your baby. (It's stressful -- an outfit you really love might be too big or too small)

Day-of Preparation

Let's get one thing straight - baby is in charge of this session. BUT, you can help raise the rate of success by doing two things:

  1. Keeping them up an hour before the session. Stimulation is the best way to tire them out. They want to hear you talk, feel you kiss their cheeks and eat!

  2. While this is the hardest of the two suggestions, feeding them as close to our session time as possible helps get them to sleep juuuust as I start messing with them to get them in their wraps.

The Session

My sessions are two hours long. If your baby dreams the day away, we can finish everything in about 45 minutes. But I never want new parents to feel like their baby needs to cooperate or stress that I am waiting for them to calm down. I have a baby of my own, and I know that fussiness comes with being new to this world with all its noises, lights, and temperature changes.

The session is $500 and comes with 30 images of your choosing (through a proofing gallery) and includes personal printing rights. A deposit of $250 will be requested via Venmo. The balance is due the day of our session.
